Gordon von Steiner is a Canadian/British filmmaker and photographer widely recognized for his modern approach to fashion and the female form, as well as his creative use of sound design in film. Through cognitive triggers and a provocative aesthetic, Gordon’s films evoke a vivid emotional reaction through image and sound. His work is constructed with a defined intent: to move the viewer’s initial observation of his art into their long-term memory.

Originally from Toronto, Gordon moved to New York and graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, with a concentration in experimental cinema. From starting his directing career through multiple film collaborations with legendary photographer Steven Meisel, Gordon has established his singular signature style, in a class of his own.

von Steiner has created editorial films for American Vogue, Vogue Italia, Visionaire and most recently with M Le Monde magazine. His commercial credits include Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, Hermes, MAC Cosmetics & Versace, to list a few.

Most recently, Gordon was appointed the Creative Director for Troye Sivan’s upcoming album ‘Something to Give Each Other’, in addition to directing three music videos for his singles.

Gordon’s films have received multiple accolades, including the Clio Image Awards, The Society of Publication Designers, and at the Berlin Fashion Film Festival, where his short film Persona won awards in four categories.

His work has been exhibited at Palais Galliera in Paris, Fondazione Forma per la Fotografia in Milan and Museum Bellerive in Zurich.

von Steiner lives and works in New York City.
