New York-based David Vandewal’s work as a stylist draws on both his extensive experience as a shaper of concepts and his pragmatic knowledge of brand building.

Vandewal began his career, after completing his studies at the Royal Academy in Antwerp, on the design side working with Dries Van Noten on his womenswear and menswear lines. Shortly after he worked with Raf Simons and Karl Lagerfeld before eventually deciding to focus on the next evolution of clothes--styling.

He has worked several seasons with Maison Martin Margiela Menswear and MM6 and is currently consulting on Thakoon’s women's wear line and Siki Im’s men's wear line. He has worked on campaigns for Armani Exchange and Hugo Boss, along with Barney’s New York on their men’s and women’s catalogues. Editorially, he has collaborated with leading photographers including Walter Pfeiffer, Hans Feurer, Richard Burbridge, Claudia Knoepfel & Stefan Indlekofer, Josh Olins and Boo George for Italian Vogue, The New York Times Magazine, 10, 10 Men, WSJ Magazine and Vogue China.

Most recently, Vandewal was commissioned to create a window display of collages for Opening Ceremony’s celebration of the Royal Academy turning 350 in the "Year of Belgium" project. His collages became infamous as detailed records noting every show, appointment and image reflecting that time period for him. A series of framed collage pieces were displayed in the New York shop in September 2013.
